Please help me, I'm a Laganas Virgin ? |
|
|
|
The
resort of Laganas is stretched out along two
main roads, Kalamaki Road and Laganas Main
Road, with smaller roads branching off. Most
of the bars and clubs are dotted along the
Laganas Main Road heading to the beach, with
beach bars along the beach. There are
several bars and restaurants along the
Kalamaki Road, but these are normally
quieter after 1am. Laganas Main Road is
starts to get busy after 9pm, with a wave of
people coming down around midnight, heading
to the centre and then on towards the bars
and clubs at the bottom of the main road. |

Laganas
beach is part of the Laganas Bay, a protected area for
the endangered species of Caretta Caretta Turtle
(NMPZ). Hence why
there are no high speed boat or jet ski allowed within
the bay area.
There are many pedlows, turtle spotting boats and small
power boats for hire.
The beach is 8km long from point to point and at one of
the beach is over 60m wide. But in other places it is
down to only a few metres wide. The sand here is a
clean
fine sand and is well compacted. The water is clean and
shallow to about 80 metres out when it starts to get
deep, so therefore if you are not a brilliant swimmer,
it is quiet safe for you as there is no strong currents.
There are plenty of
sun beds for hire along the beach,
with many of them free of charge but as it gets busy,
expect to pay around 5 Euros for a pair of sun beds. The
beach will get very busy during high season, especially
when the Italians and Greeks come on holiday in August.
You can walk along the beach here from Laganas to
Kalamaki or walk the opposite direction to Cameo Island
and another resort, Aghios Sostis, just past Cameo
Island.
