 Zante
guide is your guide to the island of Zante,
from things to do to working here during the
summer and winter months. The summer months
are from May to October were the temperature
can go well above the 100's. The winter
months are from November to April and the
temperature can go below freezing.
Summer months is the the time when most
people come to visit Zante when its hot and
they can party the nights away in the
resorts, mainly in the resort of Laganas. |

 The
are loads of beaches around the coast of
Zante, the biggest one being Laganas Bay
Area, this were the Caretta Caretta Turtles
are and the party resort of Laganas. The
second biggest is Banana Beach over in
Vassilikos.
Vassilikos has some of the best beaches in
Zante, Banana Beach, St Nicholas Beach,
Porto Roma, Porto Zoro, Daphne Beach,
Argassi Beach, Gerakas Beach are some of the
beaches along this coast line. Some of these
beaches are watersports haven while there
are some which are protected by the
N.M.P.Z
due to being Caretta Caretta Turtle Nesting
Areas, Gerakas Beach Being one of them but
it is also one of outstanding natural
beauty, with its lunar landscape.
Tsilivi Beach Is one of the cleanest and
best beaches in Zante and has won the blue
flag award for it now several years running,
plus there are watersports for those
adrenaline junkies. There is a good resort
here with a mixture of youth and couples.
Alykes, Alykanas Beaches are both good, safe
beaches for all the family to have fun and
to play safely. There are some good water
sports here for you to have try, if you feel
the need for some excitement.
Zante has so many little out coves, so many
secluded beaches that it's impossible to
name all of them here. The best way is to go
and explore as many as you can while you are
visiting Zante.

 Do
you want to work in one of the resorts of
Zante? The main destination for workers is
the party resort of Laganas. Laganas is the
biggest and busiest resort in Zante and
therefore needs more workers than other
resorts.
When is the best time for work? Some people
think the best time to come over is before
the season starts, so that they get the best
job or the job that they want. This is not
true. The season starts at the beginning of
May and ends at the end of October, but the
season doesn't really get going to the start
of June. So the best time really to come
over is at the end of May as during May most
of the bars, clubs and restaurants start off
with the minimal staff required and in May,
most of the workers who are here have been
here for a couple of years.

 Zante,
or as it is properly known by, Zakynthos, is
the southernmost Island of the Ionian
Islands and also the third largest. It is
situated 14km south of Kefalonia, 15km west
of mainland Greece.
Zante (Zakynthos) consists of mainly olive
groves, vine yards and with an abundance of
pine tree covered mountains areas and
fertile plains.
In the north, east and south of Zante there
are numerous picturesque beaches with
shallow clean waters, whereas the western
side of Zante there is the imposing, rocky
landscape which has a number small ports and
lots of sea caves such as the famous Blue
Caves on the north-west of the island and
the Keri Caves at the southern-western tip
of the Island.
The climate of Zakynthos is of warm sunshine
in the summer months and some heavy rainfall
during the winter months. Zante has the
nickname of Fior di Levante (Flower of
the East) due this weather climate.
Zante is a productive island agriculturally,
supported by the cultivation of olives,
raisins and citrus fruits. Up until recently
this was the main source of local income,
but now the the main source is from the
developing business of tourism. Zante has a
wealth of history, as for many centuries
Zante was the crossroads for numerous
nations and cultures to and from mainland
Greece.

 If you want a bit of adventure or something
to do instead of relaxing around the pool
then there are plenty of things to do in
Zante. You can go scuba diving, hire a motor
boat out for the day, you can swim with the
turtles, go go karting, play some crazy golf
, do some shopping, take an island tour or
boat cruise around the island. Go on a
guided jeep safari or make you own jeep
safari up. Do some sea fishing plus there
are three water parks in Zante that you can
go to. Go bowling at one of the many bowling
allies, play some tennis at the tennis club,
charter a yacht out for the day and have
some sailing lessons. For the more energetic
of you, there are gymnasiums in some of the
hotels in Zante, you can try mountain biking
along the dirt tracks roads of Zante or go
hiking through the wilderness of Zante.

 Winter
time is the best time to explore Zante as
the weather is not so hot and humid. Spring
time (March - May) is the time when all
 the
flowers are out after the winter rain and
then you can see why Zante is called the
Flower of the East. During this time you can
walk for hours, get on your bike and ride
from one end of Zante to the other, around
50km. There are plenty of craft shops open
where you can have a go yourself, pottery,
wood carving etc.
